After surviving cancer at the age of 16, I wanted to have a positive impact on the lives of young oncology patients and offer them the support of someone who understood their journey. On my hardest days during treatment, the people that loved me were the reason I had strength keep fighting. In 2015, I began handpicking gifts to bring to children undergoing chemotherapy treatment in the hopes of reminding them that they are not alone, that they are cared for. I dedicate my time to visiting with patients and their families as a childhood cancer survivor, to answer any questions they may have about the journey they've unwillingly embarked on, to show them that there is hope and offer my support as a mentor. I created my charity to support my goal of making each patient feel special and to collect additional donations to be distributed a minimum of twice a year in the children's hospital. All extra donations are distributed to children being treated in the ICU.
**Because of covid precautions and patients suppressed immune systems, only sealed blankets are currently being collected. As a patient, the first thing I asked for when I entered the hospital was a warm blanket. It seemed impossible to stay warm while undergoing treatment, and the blankets I collected were a source of comfort to me. It is my hope that I can provide this same comfort for current patients while we navigate covid restrictions.
